Federal Court of MS extends Ronnie Lessa's stay in Campo Grande for another year

The internal affairs department of the Federal Penitentiary of Campo Grande (PFCG) accepted the decision of the 4th Criminal Court of the District of the Capital of Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and authorized the renewal of Ronnie Lessa's term of stay at the Federal Penitentiary of Campo Grande (PFCG), in Mato Grosso do Sul, for another year.

The information was confirmed to CNN by the Federal Regional Court of the 3rd Region.

According to federal judge Luiz Augusto Iamassaki Fiorentini, from the 5th Federal Court of Campo Grande, the former PM's initial period of stay in the maximum security prison, which would end on March 21, 2024, was extended until March 21 2025.

The request was made by the judge acting in the capital of Rio, Gustavo Gomes Kalil, who decided that Lessa would remain in the Federal Maximum Security Prison for another three years, on March 19th.

Who is Ronnie Lessa

Ronnie Lessa is accused of being responsible for the murder of councilwoman Marielle Franco and driver Anderson Gomes in 2018. He is a retired sergeant from the Rio de Janeiro Military Police and was expelled from the corporation just four years after the crime.

Lessa is suspected of having fired 13 shots from an HK MP5 submachine gun at the car where the victims were.
