This Wednesday (1st) the incidence of federal taxes on gasoline and ethanol takes effect. On Monday (27), the government announced that it would apply taxes on fuel again and detailed the measure on Tuesday (28).
The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, then announced that gasoline will be re-charged by R$0.47 and ethanol by R$0.02. The price of diesel, on the other hand, should register a drop, since there is no re-encumbrance until December 2023.
Even though the charge was thought out differently in relation to what was in effect on fuels before the exemption, the R$ 28 billion collected from these taxes will be maintained in 2023, according to the federal government.
Therefore, to close the accounts, the minister confirmed that the government should tax the export of crude oil for the next 4 months. The information was anticipated by CNN anchor Daniela Lima.
Haddad stated that the measures adopted by the government have the objective of “recomposing the public budget” and added: “the measures are being taken because the minutes of the Central Bank (BC) say that this is a condition for starting to reduce interest rates in Brazil ”.
for distributors
This Wednesday (1st) also takes effect the reduction in the prices of gasoline and diesel sold to distributors announced by Petrobras.
Gasoline will go from R$ 3.31 to R$ 3.18 per liter, a reduction of R$ 0.13 per liter, or 3.9% .
It is the second time that the price of diesel is reduced in February alone, when it fell 8.8%, the first drop since Jean Paul Prates was appointed president of the state-owned company.
In December, the price of fuel had already been reduced by 8.2%.
Gasoline, on the other hand, had an increase of 7.46% in the average price per liter announced in January, in what was the first decision in the state-owned company under the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
