Federal Government recognizes emergency situation in cities of RJ

The Ministry of Integration and Regional Development (MIDR) recognized, on a summary basis, the emergency situation in the cities of Angra dos Reis and Petrópolis (RJ), this Sunday (06).

The cities of the state of Rio de Janeiro have suffered several consequences due to this week’s rains. Both regions are on alert to the high risks of landslides.

At least 500 people are displaced and 40 more homeless across the state, between last Friday (04) until this Sunday (06).

Federal recognition allows municipalities to request funds from the Federal Government for Civil Defense actions.

This feature provides help to buy basic baskets, basic hygiene, meals, among others, for residents of the regions affected by heavy rains.

All cities that were recognized by the federal government in an emergency or state of public calamity can ask MIDR, resources for civil defense actions through the Integrated Disaster Information System (S2ID).

The action aims to minimize impacts and protect the population from the cities affected by rain.
