The Federal Highway Police (PRF) and the Military Police (PM) would clear two blockage points on the BR-163 in Mato Grosso in the cities of Lucas do Rio Verde and Água Boa. Roads were blocked by demonstrators.
The information was passed to CNN by the vice-governor of the state, Otaviano Pivetta.
“We hope to release everything by the end of the day. The order is to use force,” Pivetta said.
Protesters were dispersed using water jets and bulldozers tore down tents. In the afternoon, actions are planned in the cities of Nova Mutum and Sinop.
The PRF also registers blockades in the cities of Sorriso, Campos de Julio, Primavera do Leste and Sapezal.
Pivetta stressed, however, that peaceful demonstrations, which do not disrupt the flow of vehicles, remain.
According to the corporation, the demonstrators will be withdrawn if they radicalize. The PRF reinforced its staff in the state with another 100 men and receives support from the Military Police (PM).
On Monday, in an interview with CNN the PRF communication coordinator, Cristiano Vasconcellos, classified the acts as “criminal” and “terrorist”, due to the burning of trucks, firing of firearms and even the attempt to use dynamite.
