Federal Highway Police will have an application to serve highway users

The Federal Highway Police (PRF) should develop, by the end of the year, an application aimed at users of Brazilian highways. According to the general director of the agency, inspector Silvinei Vasques, the main audience for the new product will be the truck driver. The idea is that the software has a panic button, which can be activated in the event of a serious accident or contact with criminals.

Technology has also been helping the PRF on other fronts, with more than 40 services available to citizens through the Gov.br platform.

According to Vasques, the interconnection of systems of transit, transport and public security agencies creates large big data (databases) that feed police institutions. “It is a feedback of information, using technology to minimize costs, increase our efficiency, our presence and bring more security to the citizen.”

The director general of the PRF also spoke about partnerships with the private sector in the matter of cargo theft and bus robbery. “In places where the highways are safer, it is natural for the economy to develop better,” he said. According to him, after the concession, Avenida Presidente Dutra, in Rio de Janeiro, had a 90% reduction in cargo theft.

Vasques also highlights social actions developed by the PRF. According to him, the agency has already purchased a trailer to serve truck drivers and neighboring communities, those that develop alongside highways. The agency expects to acquire another vehicle for this purpose.
