With the help of sniffer dogs, federal police caught a passenger from the United States at Guarulhos Airport (SP) with more than 9 kilos of picture frames and works of art stuffed with cocaine.
The suspect, aged 72, intended to travel to Portugal, but was arrested by the Federal Police for international drug trafficking in the early hours of Thursday (11).
Images of agents’ inspection in the PF’s restricted area obtained by CNN show a sniffer dog identifying the suitcase containing the drugs. Soon after, the police begin to analyze the material. Look:
The investigators then use a drill to open the frame of the painting and identify the drug using the specific liquid, which leads to the passenger being arrested on the spot.
Drugs in the stomach
At the same airport, in separate actions, between Wednesday (10) and the early hours of this Thursday, another five passengers were arrested for international trafficking.
Yesterday, three passengers – a woman and two men – who were boarding a flight to Portugal and France, were arrested by federal police officers operating a body scanner, carrying capsules containing cocaine in their stomachs.
All of them, due to the risk of death, were taken to the public hospital so that they could expel the drug safely.
The same team of police officers arrested, moments later, a passenger from Angola, who intended to board a flight to Qatar, carrying almost 4 kg of fabrics starched with cocaine.
The suspects will be brought before the Federal Court, where they may be charged with the crime of international drug trafficking.
