In all, 150 agents from the Federal Police, National Force, Federal Highway Police, BOPE from the PMDF, Navy, Army, Brazilian Air Force, as well as Funai and Ibama participate.

The action carried out the seizure of materials and destruction of machinery used for the practice of illegal mining, in addition to the repression of other environmental crimes that impact the “Amazonian Caribbean”, as the region of Alter do Chão is called, in the west of the state of Pará.

The place is usually very popular with tourists looking for its freshwater beaches on the banks of the Tapajós River.

According to the PF, so far, four skull shovels and two motors used to pump the sediments in the extraction of gold that were being dumped in the streams that flow into the Tapajós River have been rendered useless, generating pollution.
