The Federal Police, through the Social Security and Labor Task Force, carried out this Thursday (8), three search and seizure warrants in Goiânia and in the metropolitan region, in Goiás.
The operation, called Third Day, aims to combat fraud involving social security and assistance benefits terminated or suspended by the National Institute of Social Security (INSS).
The investigations found that, on four occasions, electronic devices were installed on the premises of the INSS in Goiânia, with the intention of invading the computer network and enabling remote access to corporate social security systems.
With this, they were able to reactivate benefits, generating high accumulated values.
It was the institution’s executive management that identified the devices and called the Federal Police.
In operation for 22 years, the Social Security and Labor Task Force is made up of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the Federal Police and the Federal Public Ministry, which work together to combat structured crimes against the social security and labor systems.
At the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, it is up to the general coordination of Social Security and Labor Intelligence to detect and analyze evidence of crimes and organized fraud.
The crimes under investigation are those of aggravated larceny, aggravated theft and criminal association, whose combined penalties amount to 17 years of imprisonment.
The name of the operation alludes to the criminal activities that involved unlocking, in large part, the benefit of people who had already died.
