Felipe VI supports SMEs: “Ensuring that your activity can be carried out in the best conditions is necessary”

Felipe VI presided over this Friday, February 26, the delivery of the IV National SME Award of the Year. An event organized by Banco Santander and by the Chamber of Commerce that has counted on first time with the presence of the King, something that all the representatives of the sector summoned in the delivery have thanked.

But the Monarch has not limited itself to supporting small and medium-sized companies in Spain with its presence, which this year have been so hit by the Covid crisis, with losses of 20% in sales and 10% workers. Don Felipe has taken the floor to claim aid for Spanish SMEs. “As you well know here – and it is good to remember – SMEs represent no less than 99% of the productive fabric and 66% of employment in Spain, figures that speak for themselves “, recalled the King.

“The great network and thermometer of our economy that SMEs make up is, consequently, a true backbone of our society. Therefore, ensuring that your activity can be carried out in the best possible conditions is always necessary, And this is especially important when we have to overcome this crisis that the covid-19 pandemic has generated for us; before which, naturally, the first has been attend the health emergency”.

After these words, the King has recognized that 2020 “has been an especially hard year for most of your companies “and has highlighted that the efforts of entrepreneurs” have allowed keep a thread of hope, which we wish to continue growing every day with confidence and solidarity as this crisis and its most serious consequences are overcome “. Don Felipe believes that “we are facing a historical opportunity to transform the economy through three levers of change such as digitization, the ecological transition and training”. For this reason he has claimed: “I do not want to stop emphasizing and insisting on the importance of fruitful public-private collaboration in which companies, institutions and public powers join forces and combine capacities from their respective spheres of action “.

The awards ceremony, in which Don Felipe has coincided with the Minister of Economy, MarÃa Jesús Montero, has proclaimed the Alicante FacePhi as winner of the SME of the year award. It is a company dedicated to the development of facial recognition and identity verification systems.
