Social revolutions, the tam tam, the spontaneous aggregations of sub-cultures that are geographically distant but close in purpose, now have two things in common: a smartphone and a connection. Today more than ever, the issue of social activism is inseparable from technology. And in the case of female empowerment, how can technology contribute to changing social dynamics? We will talk about it during the first episode of the new cycle of “OPPO Meets”, four digital events created by OPPO, a brand of smartphones and hi-tech accessories, in collaboration with Vanity Fair dedicated to female empowerment, a vast and delicate theme that touches on areas apparently distant from each other such as the work, economic, psychological, social and even aesthetic.
The theme of empowerment concerns the social dimension as well as the personal one. But what are we talking about when we talk about empowerment first and foremost? It is a process by which a woman or group of women is in a position to make meaningful choices for herself in all areas of life. An approach to the different spheres of life which therefore bans gender discrimination in the first place, and which promotes equity in relations and decision-making processes in the political, economic and social spheres. A delicate topic of great social involvement thanks also to the massive spread of smartphones in the last ten years and access to social networks by a large audience of different cultures. During the first episode of “Oppo Meets” we will talk about how new technologies have revolutionized the way we communicate ourselves to the world. Also and above all through the image we offer of us. We will talk about self-representation, image manipulation, skin positivity and female empowerment with Ludovica Bizzaglia, actress, influencer and skin positive activist suffering from atopic dermatitis since birth and with Isabella Lazzini, Chief Marketing Officer of OPPO Italia.
