More than half are victims of their partner or ex. the data are from the Criminal Analysis Service of the Central Police Department which recorded 11 femicides only in the two weeks ranging from 5 to 20 June.
The last to lose her life was Caterina D’Andrea, 72, shot dead by her 76-year-old husband Pietro Bergantini in Rome. In the same period last year the victims had been 51. In all 2021 103 women were killed, 101 in 2020, 92 in 2019.

Of the 50 victims in 2022, 30 found death at the hands of their partner or ex.
