Femicide in Ascoli Piceno: the precedents, the children at home and all those details that never seem to change

He probably killed her with his bare hands. The children were at home. Some neighbors say he was violent and should have been stopped sooner. The story of the feminicide that occurred in the province of Ascoli Piceno seems like a story we have already seen. Massimo Malavolta, 48 years old, killed his wife, Emanuela Massicci, 45 years old. The drama occurred on the morning of Thursday 19 December in an apartment in the Pelo tavern, in Ripaberarda, a hamlet of Castignano. The body of the woman, who had worked as a teacher and a worker, was found around 5.30 in the morning. At home there were children aged 5 and 10, now entrusted to their maternal grandparents who live in the same building.

Massimo Malavolta, after killing his wife, called his father who lives elsewhere. He would have been the one to raise the alarm. When the soldiers arrived, Emanuela Massicci’s parents also realized what had happened. “It should have been stopped sooner.” This is what some inhabitants of the hamlet would have told the Ansa agency, referring to the man who was admitted to the Mazzoni hospital in Ascoli and who is not in danger of his life. However, there were no complaints or reports. “They had isolated themselves, he should have reported it” say other voices. The Rest of the Pug quotes the words of a friend: «A very good woman. There were village rumors circulating about the violence.”

The mayor of Castignano Fabio Polini spoke of a shocked community. «There are 2,500 of us and it took a moment for the whole municipality to find out about the tragedy that had just happened.
