The Brazilians Selton Mello 52, and Fernanda Torres 59, is receiving due recognition in Hollywood for her performances in “I’m Still Here” by Walter Salles.
In a joint interview with Variety, one of the largest pop culture outlets in the world, the two spoke about the behind-the-scenes of the film and the atmosphere during recording.
“It was a beautiful bond that we created with ourselves and the children. And Fernanda is the best partner“, said Mello, remembering their relationship with the child actors who play the children of Rubens and Eunice Paiva in the film.
Behind the scenes, according to him, were lively: “Fernanda is super funny and, even with the tragic story of this film, she managed to be hilarious. We were able to have fun behind the camera, which is perfect.”
Although the film portrays a dramatic and real story, Fernanda Torres says that it was a pleasure to work alongside her colleagues and says that Salles created an “almost sacred” environment on set.
“Walter knows that the actor is the heart of a scene, so he is very respectful and helpful,” he said. “He created a world, not a set. That house we filmed in is a character — it smells like home, it feels like home.”
