The administration of the Fernando de Noronha archipelago decided to resume the requirement of the RT-PCR exam, carried out at most 48 hours before embarking to the island. The measure was taken because of the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases across the country and the advancement of the Ômicron variant.
It is also mandatory to present proof of vaccination, with two doses of any of the immunizing agents approved by WHO. This new protocol will take effect from the next 13th.
“It is important for us to understand that the pandemic takes on new contours from the new variant and we have to be prepared, readapting our protocol to protect our entire community, as well as our visitors,” said administrator Guilherme Rocha.
For children from 7 to 11 years old, who are still outside the vaccination schedule, it is only necessary to present the negative PCR test, performed at most two days before boarding. Children up to 6 years old do not need to submit an exam.
Another measure that has come into effect on the island is the mandatory use of the mask, which was allowed in open-air public spaces.
