In the Freedom of Opinion panel this Tuesday (25), Fernando Molica analyzed the values sanctioned by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the Annual Budget Law of 2022.
President Bolsonaro kept the amount of R$ 4.9 billion for the electoral fund. But it vetoed around R$3 billion from other areas. The Ministry of Labor and Social Security was the portfolio that suffered the biggest cut, of R$ 1 billion. Followed by the Ministry of Education, with R$ 736 million less than what was foreseen by Congress.
For Fernando Molica, the “idea of public funding for campaigns is reasonable, but there must be limits. It’s a lot of money, it runs away from any logic”.
Molica traced a history of how campaign financing was carried out. The commentator said that, among the criticisms of Operação Lava Jato, it has a quality for having made it “clear how corruption schemes worked through donations from large companies to candidates”.
For Molica, the important thing was that the companies “be on the side of power, regardless of the candidate. The government official returned the money invested in the campaign through overpriced works,” he said.

The government is looking to shorten the time between doses of Pfizer’s vaccine in children aged five to eleven. The interval, which today is eight weeks, would drop to three. The measure would be due to the increase in the number of cases of the Ômicron variant in children. In December, the death toll in this age group rose 44%.

The Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Ricardo Lewandowski, suspended excerpts from the decree of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) that allows constructions in caves and grottos. The minister analyzed an action by the Rede Sustentabilidade party, which alleges that the decree represents an environmental setback.
Underground natural cavities with a maximum degree of relevance can only be subject to irreversible negative impacts when authorized by the competent environmental licensing agency, and the entrepreneur must take compensatory measures. There can also be no extinction of the species that inhabits the impacted cavity.
market forecasts
The financial market increases the inflation estimate for the year. Last week the projection was that the Broad Consumer Price Index (IPCA) would be 5.9%. This week’s Focus Bulletin brought a new forecast of 5.15%. If the forecast is confirmed, it will be the second year in a row that the inflation target has been exceeded. In 2021, the IPCA totaled 10.06%, the highest since 2015.
