Fertile in 2021 for the more than 2,500 eBay sellers in Greece

Despite the pandemic, 2021 was a fruitful year for e-commerce and for the more than 2,500 eBay sellers in Greece, who grew their business through an expanded customer base in leading international markets. Based on eBay’s partnership with BestPrice.gr in 2021 as well as the Growth Program, eBay remains committed to Greek media, helping them adapt to the new digital age and seek new growth opportunities in an international environment.

Only in 2021, the Greek eBay sellers grew with great success among customers from leading international markets such as the USA, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and France. In terms of sales, eBay sellers in Greece have benefited from top categories, such as a) Spare parts and car accessories, b) Collectibles, c) Vinyl records, d) Yard and garden items, and e) Clothing, Shoes and Accessories for women. The top categories of items purchased by customers were a) Stamps, b) Spare parts and car accessories, c) Collectibles, d) Yard and garden items and e) Coins and banknotes.

Among the most expensive and interesting products sold in 2021 by Greek companies on eBay were a Black lotus Alpha collectible card ($ 30,000), the 1956 Olympic torch ($ 18,000), a Synthesizer Roland Jupiter 8 ($ 17.50), a autograph signed by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk from Turkey ($ 13,500), as well as a complete collection of Arabian Nights MTG ($ 11,000).

As can be seen from these successful results, eBay’s goal is to consistently support the entry of Greek companies into e-commerce. That’s why eBay invites them to the unique Growth Program for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), worth thousands of dollars per participant. Under the program, Greek companies can receive support for their business to sell their products to 152 million buyers worldwide. The Growth Program is a personal training program for businesses and includes, among other things, personalized support from eBay Growth Manager, high sales credit for fast growth and a free 3-month subscription to the eBay Store.

In this context, an award-winning eBay partnership was created in 2021 with BestPrice.gr, which recently won the Gold e-volution award, in the “International eCommerce” category. Through this cooperation, Greek small and medium enterprises from the network of BestPrice.gr, had the opportunity to participate in the eBay Development Program and to receive significant supplies to start their commercial activity, through the eBay platform. The collaboration was very successful, as 160 Greek companies BestPrice.gr applied for the Growth Program and many of them have already started selling on eBay and growing their business worldwide.
