Festival that would have Anitta is canceled for fear of visas in the USA

Michelada Fest’s organization announced on Tuesday (6) the cancellation of this year’s edition of the festival, which would have the singer Anitta, 32, as one of her main attractions. The event would take place in Chicago, the US state of Illinois, on June 19 and 20.

In a statement published on its social networks, the festival explained that the reason for the cancellation is the fear regarding the granting of travel visas to Latin artists, given the political atmosphere determined by the Government of Donald Trump, president of the United States.

“Due to the uncertainty surrounding artists visas and the rapid change of the political climate, we can no longer guarantee the full experience we dream of all your favorite artists,” says the note. “Although we tried, it was clear that we could not deliver the full line up as planned.”

“For seven years, we have been devoting us to this festival to create something truly special for our community. Last year has been our most amazing celebration so far, and we were ready to make this year even greater, with more energy, creativity and heart. But as independent organizers, we can’t afford to take a great risk with so much uncertainty ahead.”

In addition to Anitta, this year’s edition would also have names such as Firm Group, Luis R. Conriquez and Danny Ocean.

The fear of granting visas for artists had already motivated the cancellation of the show that FKA Twigs would do this year’s Coachella.
