Owners of the Fiat New 500 will be able to earn the KiriCoin crypto asset for sustainable driving. KiriCoin can be spent to pay for goods and services on the company’s trading platform.
According to the press release, owners of the new Fiat 500 electric car will be able to receive rewards in the crypto asset KiriCoin for “environmentally friendly driving.” KiriCoin was developed by Kiri Technologies in partnership with parent company Fiat Stellantis. E-Mobility Stellantis Program Manager Gabriele Catacchio said:
“We want to support the environmentally friendly behavior of our customers and reward them with exclusive benefits. KiriCoin can be earned simply for driving a Fiat New 500 safely and environmentally. Bonuses will be displayed in a “virtual” wallet in the Fiat app ”.
Katakkio explained that the driving data will be uploaded to the Kiri cloud and automatically converted to KiriCoin, which can be used to purchase products and services from the Kiri marketplace. Drivers with the best eco: Score will also receive additional rewards such as vouchers from Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Spotify and Zalando.
During normal city driving, New 500 owners will earn about one KiriCoin (€ 0.02) per kilometer. Thus, driving an average of 10,000 kilometers per year, drivers can earn about € 150 per year. Kiri is currently available in 13 European countries.
The use of the cryptoasset can be expanded to other areas as well, such as renewable energies and green products. Fiat’s commercial launch manager for the Fiat New 500, Giorgio Neri, said the Kiri marketplace “includes companies from the fashion, accessories and design industries, all of which are committed to sustainability.”
