Fiction Rai, all the news: from Amica Geniale 4 to the renewal of Un Professore

It rarely happens that an important position like that of the director of Rai Fiction you get so out of balance during an interview and that's why, when it happens, it's a gift to everyone. In a long interview on Fq Magazine of the Everyday occurrence the director Maria Pia Ammirati comment on the successes and the titles in the pipeline for the new television series of the public service by discussing phenomena that have “exploded in our hands” and avenues that would be nice to explore further in the future. Let's start, then, with the fiction on which Rai itself did not feel like betting right away: Sea Outside. «I'm honest, she exploded in my hands. I'd like to say that we've planned everything but that's not the case: we work as best we can, but there are many factors that can affect the result. Sea Outside it is a worldwide phenomenon, they study it in the United States where they are usually critical of European products. A phenomenon that exploded with the second series, which was indeed widely watched on Netflix, but let's not forget that the third season already went viral on RaiPlay, also thanks to the driving force of social media”, comments Ammirati, confirming that in this season “there will be important exits, which will also be tiring for us.”

Another highly anticipated title for 2024: the fourth and final chapter of The Brilliant Friend, Story of the lost little girl: «The last series, faithful to the fourth book, will be very strong and impactful. Elena's return to Naples, the divorce, two pregnancies, a tear. Unmissable. With Stefano Coletta, director of Rai Distribution, we thought of an airing date between the end of November and the beginning of December. It is a very feminine series, it also gave an important signal, so we would like to make it debut on November 25th, the day against violence against women”, reports the director of Rai Fiction before also giving the green light to a fourth season of A professor which, however, we will not see very soon. «He's in the groove of Sea Outside, a phenomenon that passes from social media to TV, where the numbers were already important anyway. Also in this case there was the RaiPlay effect thanks to the perfect ingredients, Alessandro Gassmann excellent in a role that seems tailor-made for him, empathetic and charismatic. There will be a third season, the cast of protagonists from Gassmann to Pandolfi, from Maupas to Gavino, is confirmed. We are writing, we will shoot in 2025 and it will be broadcast in 2025.” Between returns and confirmations there is always space for DOC – In your hands, to Rocco Schiavone (“We are ready to shoot the new season, which will go on set in April”) and to Mina September.

Ammirati's hope is, naturally, that Rai fiction will continue to navigate in this direction, winking at Italian literature between Tondelli's masterpieces and the “contemporary fiction written by women like Ciabatti, Avallone and Parrella”.
