“What a wrong word, lover. What a wrong word, betrayal »writes Marco Missiroli in Fidelity, the book with which he won the Strega Giovani Award in 2019 which will become an original series for Netflix by the end of 2021. Produced by BiBi Film Fidelity, set between Milan, Rimini and Rome, follows the story of four complex characters, of four lives that intertwine and that question feelings and torments, caressing a reality in which “suspicion takes root”.
It all starts with a marriage cracked by the shadow of betrayal: ever since Carlo, a university professor, “rescued” a student, Sofia, doubt has crept into the mind of Margherita, who nevertheless tries to keep her the relationship demonstrating a confidence never completely interrupted, curved but never broken.

Their words still burn, they smell of a happiness that does not seem consummated but that often borders on ambition, in the desire to realize dreams that have long remained in the drawer: Carlo thinks back to the book he never managed to write, while Margherita fantasizes not only about an apartment in the heart of Milan that is beyond her means, but also about a physiotherapist, Andrea, who represents the lightness of everyday problems, the escape from a life that begins to be close to her and that leads her to fight a battle that in his heart he knows he lost from the start. “To suffer for the horizons that they would not have been able to live”, as Missiroli writes, is perhaps one of the most interesting themes of Fidelity, a book loved by thousands of readers who thrill at the idea of seeing it transposed into a series.
The six episodes are written by Alessandro Fabbri, Elisa Amoruso and Laura Colella, the direction will be entrusted to Andrea Molaioli (The Girl by the Lake, Suburra – the series) and Stefano Cipani (My brother chases dinosaurs), while the protagonists Carlo and Lucrezia will have the face of Michele Riondino and of Lucrezia Guidone. In a very lively Milan and in a Rimini where the poetic sentiment of our times survives, Carlo, Andrea, Margherita and his mother Anna, the illuminating beacon of the novel, one of those characters “capable of transmitting the meaning of existence”, give life to a drama in which nothing is left to chance, leading us by the hand not only among the rooms and streets inhabited by the protagonists, but also in the ocean of their most unspeakable desires and in the obsession of a constant, sometimes impertinent question: are we sure that resisting temptation means being faithful?
