The International Football Federation (FIFA) has announced that it will launch NFT FIFA+ Collect on the Algorand blockchain in late September ahead of the November FIFA World Cup.
Football club fans will have the opportunity to purchase unique digital collectibles at an affordable price. Thus, NFTs of iconic FIFA World Cup and FIFA Womens moments, as well as works of art inspired by the events of the championships, will be offered to the fan communities.
“The fandom is changing. With FIFA+ and Algorand, football fans can participate in world-class events in new ways. FIFA+ collectibles will become available to any football fan, democratizing the opportunity to own a piece of the FIFA World Cup,” said FIFA Commercial Director Romy Gai.
From the moment of launch, the site will be available on all websites and mobile devices. The FIFA+ project is inspired by the success of NBA’s Top Shot, a similar platform for basketball fans. According to the CryptoSlam browser, the total volume NFT trading on the NBA Top Shot platform exceeded $1 billion.
