Fifth generation of Range Rover introduced: new platform and huge display

Today, October 27, Jaguar Land Rover officially unveiled the fifth generation of Range Rover’s premium SUV. It is worth noting that this car is based on the latest modular platform MLA-Flex, which will be used in all future models of the concern. At the same time, outwardly, the fifth generation does not at all look like a breakthrough or really new – there are very few external differences between the new and old SUVs. For example, the radiator grille, running lights, general body shape and small decorative elements seem to have migrated to the fifth generation from the fourth.

But there are also some interesting innovations – now the car boasts retractable door handles and, what the developers are especially proud of, the body clearances are halved. Thanks to this, it is almost impossible to notice that the tailgate consists of two halves. Approximately the same number of changes can be seen in the interior of the new Range Rover – the manufacturer did not radically change anything, leaving the traditional layout and design. But this did not prevent the salon from becoming more modern and attractive, without losing the premium materials for which this brand is so famous.

For example, a fairly impressive 13.1-inch curved touchscreen display immediately catches the eye – it is included in the Pivi Pro multimedia system. It is worth saying that this is the largest display that the concern has ever installed in its cars. And then there is a rather interesting option that will probably amuse many – for the first time in quite a long time, potential buyers can order a Range Rover without leather trim. Instead, you can choose an ecological fabric, preserving the ecology and nature, and carpets for the salon are now in any case made from garbage from the bottom of the ocean, which is pre-processed.

The car will come to the Russian market in three engine versions – the basic version comes with a 3-liter Ingenium D250 with 249 horsepower, then a diesel D350 with 350 horsepower, and in the top-end configuration, the buyer gets a 4.4-liter P530 gasoline engine with a power of 530 horses. All offered motors are supplied paired with 8-speed hydromechanics, which cannot be changed simply. However, unfortunately, so far the prices for the new Range Rover have not been announced for Russia – the cars will appear on sale in the spring of 2022, the price is about 9 million rubles (if we translate the price for the UK into rubles).
