The average occupancy rate in open hotels (which reaches 90%) for April is already approaching 50%, while the average double room rate in the same month it rose to 62 euros from 53 euros in March.
These are the data published by the Institute of Tourism Research and Forecasts of the Hotel Chamber of Greece, which conducts research exclusively on hotels with continuous operation in mountainous areas and cities, to capture the basic parameters of average price and occupancy in this part of the hotel industry.
Last month, the percentage of open mountain hotels was 90.1%, the average occupancy rate 37.7% and the average double room rate 72 euros. As for city hotels, 90.4% are open, the average occupancy is 51% and the selling price is 60 euros.
In March, in the total of continuous hotels, the percentage of open units was 85%, the average occupancy in the open hotels 38.4% and the average occupancy with reduction in the total of continuous hotels 31.2%.
Prices are rising, due to the upward trend in demand since mid-April and according to hotel market estimates, both occupancy and selling prices will increase as we move into the summer.

As it was pointed out at the meeting, our country is in the top destinations for German tourists, with the first data from the two largest tour operators -TUI and DER Touristik- even talking about doubling the bookings in many Greek destinations, at least until November.
