One of the Chinese insiders previously said that Xiaomi 12 will receive a “completely new design”, and now we can evaluate this very design: a high-quality render of the device has been published.

Another Chinese source shared details of Xiaomi’s press conference due on December 28th. It was expected that Xiaomi 12 and MIUI 13 will be presented at it, but, as reported, there will be more hardware innovations: Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12X will debut together with Xiaomi 12 (model codes are l3a, l3 and l2, respectively).
The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and will have curved OLED screens with front-facing cameras embedded in the center. The key difference will concern the camera – Mi 12 Pro will receive a periscope module with 5x optical zoom. Accordingly, in the Xiaomi 12, optical stabilization will be only in the main module with a wide-angle lens, and in the Xiaomi 12 Pro – in two: the main and the periscope.
We have already written about Xiaomi 12X – it will be a compact pre-flagship with a 6.28-inch screen and Snapdragon 870 SoC. The height of the smartphone will be 145.4 mm, width – 65.4 mm. In terms of dimensions, it will be similar to the iPhone X. This model, like the Xiaomi 12, will go on sale worldwide, but the Xiaomi 12 Pro is most likely targeted at the local Chinese market. A high-quality global Xiaomi camera phone will be released later – it will be the Xiaomi 12 Ultra.
