“Finance is also bar talk” is the theme of an event on financial economy

With the theme “Finance is also bar talk”, the event’s main objective is to demystify beliefs about money that cross the history of the black population, especially financial education. For Ana K Melo, head of Diversity and Inclusion at XP Inc, diversity and inclusion enable institutions to become stronger and with potential for innovation. “The more different people you bring together to create together, the more amazing the solution, product or service you are creating. Talking about diversity in Brazil is directly related to promoting inclusion and expanding discussions on all subjects beyond the corporate world.” she emphasizes.

The debates will have proposals to support, promote and boost the entrepreneurship of black people. Mônica Costa, founder of GP Finanças, highlights the relevance of such an agenda and reinforces the important role of black women when it comes to money. “It was thanks to financial intelligence that our ancestors, the women who came before us, were able to resist in a society that is sexist and racist. It took a lot of creativity, resilience and financial intelligence for us to be here today.” she highlights her.

Financial education and its importance

According to the National Confederation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC), indebtedness exceeded 80% for the first time. The number of indebted families reached 79.3% of the total households in the country in September this year. How to demystify beliefs around financial education will also be discussed during the Preta Poupa Fest, which takes place this Tuesday (8), from 5 pm to 10 pm and will be broadcast online on the Youtube channel of Feira Preta Festival🇧🇷

“We can demystify beliefs about finance when we look at them from our subjectivity. Even talking about money is also bringing it to the dimension of mental health. We often reproduce patterns of behavior that come from multiple generations. This issue becomes even more expensive when it comes to the black population, as we have a history of slavery, associated with scarcity.” confirms Adriana Barbosa, CEO of Pretahub and founder of Feira Preta.
