Find out who the staff of the Israel Embassy were killed in attack

The couple Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, employees of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC, the capital of the United States, were killed in an attack on Wednesday night (21), leaving an event at the Jewish Museum of the capital.

The suspect, identified as Elias Rodriguez, 30, from the city of Chicago, was arrested for security upon entering the museum after the crime.

Upon being handcuffed, Rodriguez shouted “Palestine Free”.

30-year-old Yaron was a research assistant at the Embassy’s political department, while Sarah, 26, organized trips to Israel, according to Oren Marmstein, spokesman for the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Israel.

The Ambassador of Israel in the US, Yechiel Leiter, reported that the couple was about to get engaged.

“A young man bought a ring this week with the intention of proposing his girlfriend next week in Jerusalem. They formed a beautiful couple,” he said.

Germany Minister of Foreign Affairs, Johann Wadephul, told parliamentarians in the German Bundestag on Thursday (22) that Lischinsky was an Israeli diplomat and had German citizenship.

“I think I speak throughout the House by saying that it has shaken us and that our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the murdered and the members of Israeli foreign service,” said Wadephul, condemning the couple’s “insidious murder”.

Nissim Otmazgin, former teacher of Lischinsky, reported that he dreamed of being a diplomat after studying at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

“Yaron was an exceptional student and a wonderful person,” said Otmazgin, the rector of university humanities. “His dream was to become a diplomat. In fact, he was just starting his new career as a diplomat when he was murdered.”

Attack shot

The suspect approached a group of four and attacked with a firearm. The two victims died at the scene, police said.

After attacking, the shooter entered the museum, being detained for the safety of the event. Once handcuffed, he informed security where he had ruled out the gun, which was recovered by the authorities.

The suspect, Elias Rodriguez, was not known to the police. Authorities believe he was the only shooter and that there is no active threat.
