Fines of € 409,980 in private clinics for higher prices on coronavirus detection tests

Fines totaling 409,980 euros are imposed, by decision of the Minister of Development & Investment, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, in the private hospital and clinic “MITERA” and in another private clinic because in audits of the Interdepartmental Market Control Unit (DIMEA) provisions of Ministerial Decisions 98491 / 09-09-2021 and 657 / 04-01-2022 on the imposition of a maximum value (ceiling) on ​​the price of the coronary virus SARS-CoV-2 detection test by the molecular control method.

Specifically, “MITERA” is fined 370,280 euros as it was found by the audits of DIMEA that
-from 01-12-2021 to 05-01-2022, in 1,169 cases he charged the test with prices above the maximum price of 60 euros

-and from 06-01-2022 to 10-02-2022, in 1,310 cases he charged the test with prices above the maximum price of 47 euros.

In another private clinic, a fine of 39,700 euros is imposed because in the period from 20-10-2021 to 20-12-2021, in 218 cases he charged the test for coronavirus SARS –CoV-2 with the method of molecular control, with prices above maximum price of 60 euros.

Under the current legislation, the names of companies that are subject to an administrative fine if it exceeds 50,000 euros are made public, while each company reserves the right to go to court, the Ministry of Development said in a statement.
