Checks on the prices of goods are carried out on a daily basis by the Inter-Service Market Control Unit (DI.M.E.A.) of the Ministry of Development and Investment and in cases where there are phenomena of scandal, intervenes by imposing the fines set by the current legislation, as stated the Ministry of Development in a relevant announcement.
Specifically for the phenomena of scandal, the Service carries out inspections in multiple sectors, such as: flour industry, fruit and vegetables, fuel, meat, supermarkets as well as the sale prices of protection masks and coronavirus detection tests COVID-19.
The audits so far have resulted in fines of hundreds of thousands of euros. The audits continue and are in progress at all stages of distribution, marketing and provision of services, the results of which after their completion will be announced to you in the near future.
