Finland and Lithuania are worried after Putin’s speech: their armed forces are on standby

THE Finland closely monitors the situation in its neighbor Russia, since Russian President Vladimir Putin today declared partial mobilizationsaid Finnish Defense Minister Andii Kaikkonen.

“Regarding the areas around Finland, I can say that the military situation is stable and calm,” Kaikkonen pointed out. “Our armed forces are well prepared and we are closely monitoring the situation.”

At the same time the Lithuania announced that it has increased the readiness of its army’s immediate reaction units “in order to prevent any provocation from the Russian side”, according to the country’s Defense Minister Arvindas Anousauskas.

“As Russia’s partial mobilization also concerns the Kaliningrad region, Lithuania cannot simply watch,” he added, as reported by Reuters and relayed by the Athens News Agency.
