Finland: ‘Russian threats push us closer to NATO’, says former prime minister

The first reaction to the Russian Foreign Minister’s threats against Finland and Sweden in case they decide to join NATO, came from the former Prime Minister of Finland, Alexander Stump.

In a post on Twitter, Stubb, who served as Prime Minister of Finland for the two years 2014-2015, said that according to the data that have been formed, his country’s accession to the North Atlantic Alliance is one way.

“Russia is pushing Finland closer to NATO membership. More than ever. Our security is based in part on a choice to join the Alliance. With what is evolving, we have no choice but to join. “Finland would strengthen the Alliance and help maintain the stability of Northern Europe,” Stump said.
