Finnair Oyj: Carried 25% fewer passengers than in December

Finnair Oyj announced that it carried 451,300 passengers in January, a number 25% lower than in December and higher than the 85,600 passengers it carried in January last year.

The Finnish airline said it had a clear improvement in passenger traffic data during the month compared to last year, but the data fell on a monthly basis due to Omicron and seasonality, although strong transport performance continued.

Finnair operated an average of 209 flights a day in January, including cargo-only flights, less than the 230 flights in December.

Total capacity in January fell 4.5% on a monthly basis, while Finnair traffic fell 21% since December.

“The impact of the pandemic, combined with the severe travel restrictions imposed by various countries because of Omicron, continue to affect all aspects of passenger traffic,” the airline said.
