Fire and the price of natural gas (CNG)

Of Thanks to Floudopoulos

The increase in the price of natural gas, caused by the energy crisis, could not leave unaffected the natural gas, the well-known CNG.

According to the prices announced by Fisikon, CNG has recorded a significant increase of 38% in the last month. Specifically from the levels of 0.83 euros / kg, a price at which CNG was for a long time, is now sold at 1.15 euros / kg.

This increase affects those drivers who use natural gas, ie a significant percentage of taxis, public transport as much of the bus fleet runs on CNG and a smaller number of cars that also use natural gas.

What does the rise in the price of natural gas mean for drivers in practice? A car with a factory CNG engine and 13 liter tank, filled with 10.8 euros, while now it fills with 15 euros.

That is, the driver will pay 4.2 euros more for the filling. If we calculate that an CNG car burns on average 4-5 kg of natural gas for every 100 kilometers, the cost is 4.6-5.75 euros, or otherwise 1.3 to 1.6 euros more expensive.

At the same time, the prices of other motor fuels are at high levels.

Specifically, according to the data of the price observatory of the Ministry of Development, the average price of unleaded gasoline is at 1,761 euros / liter, diesel at 1,506 euros / liter, while LPG at 1,005 euros.

Finally, it is worth remembering that at the beginning of the year, the average nationwide price of gasoline was 1.4 euros / liter and diesel 1.1 euros / liter.
