A fire in a guesthouse in the central region of Porto Alegre left ten people dead in the early hours of this Friday (26).
According to the Fire Department, the place did not have a permit or license to operate. The fire started around 2 am, and was controlled by agents at 4:30 am.
In addition to the dead, seven people were rescued alive and taken to hospitals in the region. The inn, located on Avenida Farrapos, housed people in socially vulnerable situations.
According to the Porto Alegre Civil Defense, the fire may have been criminal, as there is information that a person had entered the place during the early hours of the morning. However, forensics are still working to determine the circumstances of what happened.
The Fire Department reported that there are no missing people.
