Fire Department: The best picture is the fire on Parnonas – There is no active front

The fire that broke out in a forest area, yesterday afternoon, in Parnonas, northeast of Varvitsa, Laconia, presents a good picture from the morning, according to the latest information from the Fire Service.

As it became known, the fire is limited to a ravine, where there is no active front, but it has many scattered outbreaks and burns forest, without threatening a residential area. There does not seem to be a risk of expansion, however the work of the firefighters complicates the terrain of the area and the access of the fire trucks is not easy, as there are no roads.

All the ground forces that mobilized since yesterday are trying to put out the fire. Specifically, 99 firefighters with 24 vehicles, three groups of pedestrians who went from Athens, as well as volunteers and water carriers, while in the morning a helicopter drops water from the air.
