‘Fire’ Harry for killing in Afghanistan – ‘Most dangerous lie I’ve ever told’ says

The publication of Harry’s autobiography, Spare, has become a hot topic of discussion. In his book King Charles’ youngest son recounts incidents from his two deployments to AfghanistanQ first in 2007-8 for 10 weeks and then as an Apache helicopter pilot from September 2012 to January 2013, but and for the number of people -25- he killed. Harry resigned from the army in 2015.

British newspapers, which he strongly criticizes through his book, and some senior former British army officers have criticized his decision to publicize the number of people he has killed, saying it risks making him and others the target of retaliation. Prince Harry hit back and said he was particularly disturbed by the lie that he had bragged about killing 25 people in Afghanistan while serving as a military helicopter pilot.

Speaking on Stephen Colbert’s US TV show ‘The Late Show’, Harry explained that this he did so solely with the goal of reducing the number of suicides by military veterans.

“Undoubtedly the most dangerous lie they’ve told is that I bragged about the number of people I killed in Afghanistan,” he said, pointing out that the press had twisted his words. “I chose to share this because having spent nearly two decades working with veterans around the world, I believe that the most important thing is to be honest and to be able to give space to others to shamelessly share their experiences” commented the prince.
