The fire, enhanced by strong winds, quickly took on uncontrollable dimensions, making it difficult to restrict. According to La Nuova, the once lush landscape was transformed into a few minutes into a charred area. The situation became critical when the dense smoke covered the coastal zone, causing terror to hundreds of bathers. Many were trapped, as escape roads were either blocked by flames or were inaccessible to tobacco. The removal of tourists was done under extremely difficult conditions, with many leaving towels, umbrellas and personal belongings in the sand.
