Fire in warehouse in the Port of Santos lasts more than 30 hours

The warehouse used by the Federal Revenue Service to store products seized at the Port of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, has been on fire since the early hours of Monday (19), according to the Fire Department.

This Tuesday morning (20), ten vehicles and 22 professionals fought the fire. So far, there are no records of victims.

Thousands of products such as cell phones, electronic equipment, video cameras, USB adapters, among others, were destroyed. The estimated value of what was consumed by the flames exceeds R$3 million, according to the auction notice. The products would be auctioned on February 29th.

The warehouse, located on Rua João Pessoa, in the Paquetá neighborhood, central region of the municipality, is a warehouse of an outsourced company that is used by the Federal Revenue Service.

In a note to CNN , the agency informs that it is closely monitoring what happened. Other warehouses were also affected and there is still no information about what caused the fire, according to the IRS.

The structure is at risk of collapsing, according to information from the Fire Department.
