A 27 -year -old man was found dead in one of the pools of the Capibaribe Nautical Club, located in the North Zone of Recife, on Sunday (6). He was a student of the Pernambuco Fire Department of Squares (CFHP) and was conducting apnea training, a technique that aims to increase underwater resistance, suspending breathing for a prolonged period.
Luiz França Ferreira Neto was off and, on his own, practiced the exercise pool of the club’s water park, which is more than 5 meters deep. The people present at the scene realized that he had not returned to the surface after a few minutes.
The aspiring firefighter was removed from the water and taken to the edge of the pool. The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was triggered and the relief team tried to revive it, but Luiz França did not resist and died at the scene. The Civil Police of Pernambuco registered the occurrence as drowning.
In a statement, the nautical club reported that, before Samu’s arrival, the local professionals worked in the rescue. The club regrets and gives solidarity to the victim’s family and friends.
The Pernambuco Fire Department also said goodbye to Luiz França, highlighting his dedication and respect during the training course. “It is with immense sadness that we said goodbye to Luiz França Ferreira Neto. In his journey of formation, France gained the admiration and affection of classmates and instructors, always with dedication, respect and team spirit,” said the corporation.
Luiz França’s body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML), in the Santo Amaro neighborhood, in Recife.
