The fire in an electrical substation that caused a power outage and brought chaos to Heathrow airport in London is considered by the London Fire Department as “non -suspicious”, according to the corporation.
“The London Fire Department fire investigation officers, supported by a scientific consultant, have been working closely with the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) to investigate the cause of this fire. The MPS confirmed that the fire is considered non-suspicious,” said the deputy commissioner of the London Fire Department, Jonathan Smith, on a statement on Friday Night, local time.
The investigation will now focus on the electrical distribution equipment, added the Fire Department.
London Metropolitan Police have confirmed that while the investigation is still in its early stages, “there is no evidence of any crime.”
“After the initial assessment, we are not treating this incident as a suspect, although investigations remain underway,” said commander Simon Messinger, who is leading the Metropolitan Police response in a statement separated on Friday.
