Firearms Organizations Celebrate: Toward Unlicensed Firearms in Texas

The Texas will become the 21st state to allow some form of unlicensed firearms, as parliament passed a bill that would allow Texans to carry hidden weapons without the need for any permits.

The bill goes to the office of Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who has promised to sign it.

The developments bring great satisfaction to the National Rifle Association, the most powerful advocacy organization for gun and firearms advocates.

Lawmaker Matt Schaefer, the Republican rapporteur on the bill, which advocates of Americans’ right to bear arms call a “gun-free law,” has called it the text “the strongest in the history of Texas”, as broadcast by AMPE.

The bill protects “the right of law-abiding Texans to carry a weapon in the exercise of their God-given right to self-defense and to defend their families,” Schaefer said on Twitter.

Sen. Ted Cruz, a Republican who represents the state, also said on Twitter that this was “great news for law-abiding Texans who love the Second Amendment” to the US Constitution.

However, the bill deleted excerpts that had alarmed the police, for example a provision that would prohibit police officers from interrogating a suspect simply because he was armed.

The Everytown for Gun Safety alliance, which is working to strengthen controls in possession of weapons and weapons in the US, issued a fiery announcement on this bill.

Texan lawmakers “violated their oath to represent our interests,” said Elizabeth Hanks, a volunteer with Moms Demand Action, the grassroots organization Everytown for Gun Safety.

“We warn them: nothing will stop us from trying to ensure that Texan voters know how much they have put us at risk,” he added.
