The explosion of wildfires around Los Angeles, which left many people awakened by orders to vacate, was a historically horrifying moment, the City Council president said.
“Last night was one of the most devastating and terrifying nights we have ever seen in any part of our city in any part of our history,” Marqueece Harris-Dawson reported.
“The fire literally jumped over the roads, destroying structures,” he added.
Harris-Dawson said authorities are hopeful firefighters will make progress Wednesday.
“We woke up this morning with a renewed spirit that we can defeat this fire and move forward to a brighter day,” he highlighted.
Still, the fire remains out of control. Authorities stressed that, at the moment, the focus is on saving lives.
