Sony has made a new version of the firmware for the Sony a7S III available for download. Firmware 2.00 includes the Sony S-Cinetone color profile, which first appeared in the F6X Cinema Line camera. According to the manufacturer, it is “inspired by the science of color used in the flagship Sony VENICE movie camera.”
According to the manufacturer, the new color profile “delivers natural midtones as well as soft colors and great highlights.” It can be used for monitoring only, or used when recording footage to reduce post-processing.
The update also improves Active Mode performance with sensor shift image stabilization across five degrees of freedom.
