Today, September 13 at 15:00 Moscow time, the embargo on the publication of reviews on the game was lifted – exactly one day before the official release of the shooter on all platforms. And, as it turned out, the developers managed to fully meet the expectations of specialized journalists (both Western and Russian). At the moment, the game has a fairly high score on Metacritic – 88 points out of 100 possible, which is an incredibly good indicator for a shooter, especially one that does not position itself as an AAA release. Perhaps, of course, after the publication of subsequent reviews, the score will drop slightly, but most likely it will not drop below 80 points.
Journalists are very active in praising the developers’ approach to building a virtual world, which allows you to constantly change levels, use vertical gameplay and travel between interesting locations. Also, gamers appreciated the very concept of a time loop, from which it is very difficult for the protagonist to get out – this makes the gameplay more lively and boring. At the same time, many noted that in terms of gameplay, the game is very similar to another release from Arkane Studios – Dishonored 2. However, no one attributed this to the shortcomings of the project, and the total number of negative reviews is extremely insignificant.
We can only hope that players will appreciate Deathloop as well as journalists of specialized publications. Still, situations often happen when a game gets high ratings from the media before release, and then gamers literally trample the project’s rating to the red mark.
