First meeting of the Extroversion Council of Enterprise Greece

The first meeting of the Extroversion Council of the Hellenic Investment and Foreign Trade Company (Enterprise Greece) took place on Monday, December 20, 2021.

The beginning of the work was announced by the President of the Extroversion Council, Secretary General of International Economic Relations and Extroversion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Board. of Enterprise Greece, Mr. Giannis Smyrlis, in the presence of the Deputy Minister for Economic Diplomacy and Extroversion, Mr. Costas Frangogiannis, the management of Enterprise Greece and the Members of the Council, who are representatives of bodies / professional organizations.

In yesterday’s meeting participated: a) Mr. Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Regional Governor of Central Macedonia, as a representative of the Union of Regions of Greece, b) Mr. Panos Lolos, Member of the Board. and Mr. Georgios Xirogiannis, Deputy General Manager, as representatives of the Association of Enterprises and Industries (SEV), c) Mr. Athanasios Savvakis, President of the Association of Industries of Greece, d) Ms. Christina Sakellaridis, President of the Panelis e) Mr. Giannis Chatzitheodosiou, President of the Central Union of Chambers (KEE), f) George Konstantopoulos, President of the Exporters Association of Northern Greece (SEVE), g) Mr. Giannis Bratakos, President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce of Athens , Member of the Administrative Committee / Head of International Relations EVEA, h) Mr. Vassilis Korkidis President of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and i) Mr. Alkiviadis Kalampokis, President of the Exporters Association of Crete (SEK).

The main object of the Extroversion Council is to provide consulting support to Enterprise Greece for all its responsibilities and will aim, not only to increase Greek exports and attract foreign investment, but also to create new highly specialized jobs. , increasing the income of the citizens and their purchasing power and consequently the prosperity of the country.

The topics of the first meeting included the following:

1. Presentation of a new structure of economic diplomacy – Cooperation with productive bodies

2. Extroversion Strategy: i. Attracting Investments – ii. Export Promotion

3. National Strategic Plan for Extroversion 2022: preparation of a plan, proposals for actions by geographical area and sector

4. Operating framework of the Extroversion Council

The National Strategic Plan for Extroversion (ESS), which was presented by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, September 21, was and continues to be the roadmap showing all of the country’s extroversion actions. Through this mapping, the synergies are facilitated and more efficient planning is achieved, since for each action the competent bodies are identified and the time horizon of its implementation is determined.

The National Strategic Plan for Extroversion for the period 2022-2025 is structured around three strategic axes:

(i) highlighting the country’s economic and trade position at regional and international level;
(ii) upgrading extroversion structures; and
(iii) strengthening in the context of multilateral economic relations.

Within this framework, the targeting is formed per country and which concerns:

1. Bilateral relations
2. Multilateral agreements
3. Attracting investments – export promotion
4. Technical projects / environment
5. Energy
6. Technology / know-how
7. Transport / Supply Chain
8. Tourism
9. Development cooperation

In his welcome address at the opening of the Council, the Deputy Minister for Economic Diplomacy and Extroversion, Mr. Costas Frangogiannis, reiterated the importance of Economic Diplomacy as a key axis of modern Greek foreign policy, emphasizing that the Council is an instrument for its effective exercise.

The Undersecretary, Mr. K. Frangogiannis, briefly referred to the spectacular results of the implementation of the first National Strategic Extroversion Plan 2021 – ie growth rate in 2021 reaching 8%, increase in exports, in the first half of the year by 25% and by 35% of Foreign Direct Investment , clear improvement of the image of Greece. He expressed the belief that with the official involvement and cooperation of the productive bodies in the preparation of the National Strategic Extroversion Plan for 2022, which is being inaugurated today, even more spectacular results are expected in attracting investments, promoting exports and upgrading the overall image. of the country.

The Secretary of International Economic Relations and Extroversion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Enterprise Greece, Mr. Giannis Smyrlis, stated that “The global economic crisis in the beginning, the deep crisis of the Greek economy then and lastly the unprecedented pandemic of Covid-19, created huge challenges for our country, which, however, adapted to The Greek economy has shown remarkable resilience and at the same time laid the groundwork for the next day. The participating producers welcomed the convening of the Extroversion Council, addressed issues of concern to their Members and wished the Council to function as a platform for coordination, resolution of issues and an effective mechanism for promoting the Extroversion of the country.

The members of the National Council for Extroversion approved the Proposal of the President Mr. Smyrlis for holding 4 meetings per year. The Meetings will be hosted on a rotating basis by the institutions. In this context, the body that will host the Meeting, will propose an issue that will be discussed with representatives of the competent Ministries and bodies, in addition to the agenda. The next 3 meetings will take place in Athens by EVEA, in Crete by SEK and in Thessaloniki by SEVE.
