Dozens of fire trucks and motorcycles paid tribute Friday (19) to Corey Comperatore, the former fire chief who was shot dead during a rally for former US President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania last weekend.
Comperatore, who was once chief of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Department, died protecting his family from gunfire during the rally on Saturday (13).
Trump had just begun his speech at the Pennsylvania rally when shots rang out. The former president was grazed by a bullet to his right ear.
The FBI has identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the suspect in the attempted murder of the Republican.
Shooter researched Michigan mass shooting
The man who tried to assassinate Donald Trump researched information about the arrest of a mass shooter in Michigan and his parents, who were prosecuted over a 2021 high school shooting.
Thomas Matthew Crooks also visited websites on how to build explosives, and in the minutes before he fired the shots, he took a screenshot of a live stream of the Butler, Pennsylvania, rally.
A week before the attack, Crooks researched the date of the Democratic National Convention and locations where Trump would hold rallies, as well as other research on the former president and President Joe Biden.
