Thirteen years after the release of the first film, the franchise “avatar ” will get a sequel – this Monday (9), the first trailer for “Avatar 2: The Way of the Waters “.
Last week, the CNN saw the first teaser of the feature in an exclusive session for journalists, and provided some details about the new stories of the Na’vi people.
The excerpt gives few details about the plot, and focuses on the landscapes and characters of the planet of Pandora. It is possible to see that some warriors of the alien race are preparing for a battle, but the enemy has not yet been revealed.
Some actors who made up the cast of “Avatar” (2009) return to their roles, including the protagonists Jake Sully and neytiri interpreted respectively by Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana . Other big names that will be present are Kate Winslet and Sigourney Weaver .
In the script for the first film, Sully and Na’vi Neytiri fall in love, and the former marine decides to fight to save the planet from destruction caused by terrestrial humans.
To tell the story, the director James Cameron invested in 3D technology, spending about $230 million on producing the first film, according to official filings. The investment paid off, and the public was impressed with the visuals – the attraction generated over 2.8 billion dollars, making it the most profitable film in history and starting what some experts call the “wave 3D”, with several films produced with a focus on highlighting special effects.
In the new adventure, Cameron seeks the same effect, and has already said in interviews that he wants to deliver cinematic technology “never seen before”. According to Variety, the third film in the franchise has already been filmed, but is not expected to debut until 2024, and two more are also expected to be released in the next few years – for a total of five “Avatar” films.
In Brazil, “Avatar 2: O Caminho das Águas” should premiere on December 15, 2022. Check out the trailer:
