Syrian transitional president Ahmad al -Sarah met in Damascus with a member of the US Congress, the Syrian Presidency announced today on the first visit of this kind to an American elected after the fall of Bashar al -Assad in December. Corey Mills, a member of the Republican Party, arrived in Syria yesterday, accompanied by Marlin Stutzman, also a member of US President Donald Trump party. The new president met with Mills at the Presidential Palace in Damascus in the presence of Syrian Foreign Minister Asad al -Sibani, the presidency said in a press release. Sarah came to power on December 8th, head of an Islamic organizations, including the Islamist organization of Hayat Tahrir Al Sam (HTS).
