The future finance minister of the elected government, Fernando Haddad, stated that the new fiscal rule, which will replace the spending cap, will come out next year. Haddad’s speech was made as the minister left the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center (CCBB), where he was confirmed as Lula’s finance minister.
Fernando Haddad was also asked about the tax reform, and said that the proposal will also come out next year. According to him, the new proposals can be sent together to Congress.
“It can be together, no problem, the important thing is for us to have a strong agenda for 2023, to recover the international agreements, which are at a standstill, with the European Union, the issue of the fiscal framework and the tax reform. These are great movements of ours. We will do others as well.”, he said.

The former Minister of Education said that he has already sounded out a lot of people to occupy the positions of the secretariat of the Ministry of Finance. However, Haddad pointed out that the definition will come out after conversations with the Minister of Planning, which has not yet been announced.
“Obviously I have to have a plural group, which will depend a lot on the president’s choice for the planning portfolio. I need to make arrangements with the planning minister, so that we have a cohesive team.”, added Haddad.
