Fish and seafood are the attractions in the new and relaxed Ventre, in Pinheiros

O TanTin, a bar-style restaurant on Rua dos Pinheiros, gained a big younger brother. Last week, the Ventre Kitchen and Cocktail Shop opened its doors on the same sidewalk as the firstborn, but with a totally different menu.

The relaxed and welcoming style, as the name suggests, remains the same. Located in a small two-story house full of charm and next to TanTin on Capitão Prudente Street, it is one of those places that invite you to sit for hours with friends sharing the chef’s entire menu. Marco Aurélio Sena.

The focus is on fish, seafood and signature drinks that come out from the counter run by the bartender Carlos Jucá such as the Estio (R$ 34) with gin, cherry purée, Sicilian lemon and artisanal orange and spice biltre or the Bouganvília (R$ 32) with jambu cachaça infused with blackberries, peach liqueur and clove lemon, are the house stars.

To begin with, a section called Primeiro Ato offers items such as Pintado Sando (R$45), which is the chef’s version of the famous Katsu Sando, Japanese sandwiches with soft bread, which arrives with very crispy and dry breaded and fried fish, sauce tartare with pepper, lettuce and fish roe; the Siri de feira (R$44), which are versions of the house’s spring rolls with creamy crab filling and sauce with soy sauce, ginger and lemon; or the Já Fui BBQ (R$38), which are rib croquettes roasted over coals and finished with toasted onion.

In the Second Act, made up of more substantial dishes, there is Do Mar, with octopus and shrimp in olive oil served alongside cassava puree, crispy garlic and salsa verde (R$98); the Itália Pandeiro, a spaghettini with shrimp tartare, lemon-clove sauce, spinach, coriander and annatto oil (R$ 76); and the Rice of the Day, which can appear in versions such as squid with pumpkin and octopus with roasted tomato and the price also changes depending on the option available.

For those who prefer red meat, Sena offers a beautiful rib roasted for twelve hours with only coarse salt (R$68). Named Barbecue Sunday with Something A+, the meat comes garnished with cassava in bottled butter, garlic bread farofa and pickled onions.

During the week, they offer a executive menu (R$ 65) with starter salad, three main course options (pasta with grilled octopus and lemon and paprika sauce or brothy rib rice with soft egg or rice with pumpkin, tomato, basil and Araxá cheese) and creamy brigadeiro with crunchy Brazil nut cookie for dessert.

On the à la carte menu, the options to top off your visit are Salted Caramel Popsicle with flowers and Brazil nuts (R$ 30) or Chocolate Mousse with chocolate biscuit with chocolate drops and cupuaçu cream ( R$ 32).
