Getting the Stones is a huge achievement for any venue. For Morris, it all came down to his love by fishing . Twenty years ago, he met the musician Chuck Leavell who has performed with the Stones since 1982.
The two went fishing, and Morris helped Leavell catch “a huge fish.” “He said, ‘Johnny, this is the happiest day of my life… If I can do anything for you, let me know,’” Morris said.
The 76-year-old businessman asked for the favor years later. “I said, ‘Could you get the Rolling Stones to come to Ridgedale, Missouri?’ And he said, ‘Where? What?’ and (…) how it happened was simply because of fate, fishing and a friendship.”
He claimed that a group representing the Stones attended a Garth Brooks concert at a related venue and apparently liked what they saw.
